A new day, a new place

Something a cyclist said to us near the start of the trip that we’ve not forgotten: “when you’re cycle touring, if you ever have a bad day, the next day you get on your bike and you’re somewhere new”. Belgrade behind us, our last couple of days in Serbia were some of the best of the trip so far, with beautiful scenery along the Danube towards the ‘Iron Gates’…which in true Lucy and James style we managed to miss as we decided to take a detour over a mountain pass 🤦🏻‍♀️.

We had a wonderful last night at a tiny campsite, @camp_for_cyclists_serbia. Instead of putting our tent up we were offered one of their garden tipis, and woke up to a delicious breakfast. There we met a French couple who had set off cycling (crossing the Alps in April) with their baby Juliette when she was just 6 months old, heading towards Iran! We certainly can never complain again about how heavy our bikes are. http://www.ensellejuliette.com.

Serbia, you have been full of surprises. We will certainly be back in the future!

I’m glad I read the last two updates in the order they arrived…and the new day lifted the spirits.

    Take care as always
